Lebohang Asanda Tsotetsi's body found in the bush after she went missing.

TWO female bodies have been discovered in the bushes opposite Merafe Hostel in Mofolo, Soweto in a period of nine months.

On Wednesday, 9 August, a lifeless body of a 13-year-old girl was discovered in the bushes half naked with her skirt pulled up and a shoelace tied to her neck.

Lebohang Asanda Tsotetsi went missing on Tuesday, 8 August after she was sent to the shops at around 6:30 pm and never came back.

The family spokesperson Thuso Mohonyane told Daily Sun that on the day she went missing, she came back from school, did her homework, and then watched tv and unfortunately met her demise that evening.

“The family is distraught. We are shattered. It is difficult because now the family is fighting amongst each other trying to point fingers at one another. The mother is not coping and everybody else is just going through so much,” said Thuso.

She said she has always seen this happen to other families, but not once did she anticipate that this would be her family.

“We are broken. This is a painful thing, and this has affected the whole community. On Women’s Day a child lost her life,” she said.

Mbali Kubheka from Soweto parliament said they can’t even celebrate Women’s Month.

“As a community, we are shattered. We don’t know what tomorrow holds for us. The hostel dwellers must unite with the community and prevent such crimes from happening any further,” she added.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo told Daily Sun that a case of murder has been opened at Moroka Police Station, and police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

He said police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspect please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111.
