HIS family and friends had given up on him.

He even thought he would end up dead soon.

But when he decided to get help, his life changed, and he couldn’t believe how good and healthy he looked.

Bheki Mahamba (32) from Klipgat in the North West celebrated with his family for fighting nyaope addiction after 18 years.

He told Daily Sun that he thought the only way out of the addiction was through death.

“All my friends who were smoking with me had passed away and I thought I was going to be the next one but look at how I look now,” he explained.

Bheki said that it hit him someday as he was thinking of his age that his life was a living hell.

“I was getting older, and I didn’t have a life of purpose. I didn’t have a family of my own, let own a mere girlfriend," he said.

“All I thought about was to just feed my addiction. It literally takes over your whole life. When you wake up the only thing you want to do is to hustle for money to buy the drug."

Bheki said he heard about a sangoma who has helped addicts in the area and decided to approach her.

“The day I went to the woman’s house I never turned back. It’s been five months now and I don’t even have any cravings."

Dipuo Gubhuzeni Ngobeni (40), the traditional healer who helped Bheki, said she has been helping drug addicts kick their addiction for years now.

The sangoma said she decided to help them because she had seen how talented and intelligent most of them were.

She said she turns problematic junkies into responsible people with the help of her idlozi.

“The world needs us to change it. We are fighting spiritual battles that possess our kids. I have helped many, and I still have more to help."

Bheki’s brother, Aron Pholoma (44), said they're happy to see their brother back to his normal self.

“I'm so happy. I wish what God has done to my little brother people can see that it's possible."

He said the woman who helped his brother is more than a heroine.

“This proves that South Africa can fight drugs and I wish this can be a perfect example for that,” he said.
