KAY Zuma allegedly got a hot klap from his councillor – for asking tough questions!

The 40-year-old from Acaciavale in Ladysmith, KZN, was allegedly attacked by the councillor on Saturday, 26 February, during a ward committee members’ elective process after he asked why outsiders were brought into the venue.

Kay told Daily Sun before the meeting, he noticed people were being dropped off by vehicles.

“The ward committee is elected by people in the ward they will be serving,” he said.

“I started questioning the councillor to explain what those people were doing at the meeting.”

Kay said he then called on the councillor to read out the list of people who were supposed to be at the venue.

“That’s when the commotion started,” said Kay.

“The councillor became defensive and didn’t want the list to be read. I insisted because I wanted the process to be free and fair.”

Kay said the commotion moved outside and that was when the councillor allegedly slapped him.

Kay said he couldn’t believe it but he didn’t fight back.

“I went straight to the police station to open a case. I want him to learn that as a leader, you provide clarity when it is needed and not to beat people because they ask questions,” said Kay.

Bonga Hlomuka, secretary of the ANC in Josiah Gumede Region, said he was shocked to learn of the incident.

KZN police spokeswoman, Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said a case of assault was opened at Ladysmith Police Station for investigation.

She said Kay said he was attending a meeting when he was assaulted by the suspect.
