TWO children, aged four and six, have died allegedly after consuming biscuits they allegedly bought at a local spaza shop in Naledi, Soweto on Sunday 1 October.

Two others are fighting for their lives in hospital.

Community members closed the shop where the four friends allegedly bought the biscuits.

According to community members, the children started vomiting a pink substance two hours after eating the pink biscuits they had bought at the spaza shop in their kasi. They were rushed to a hospital where they were declared dead.

This has angered community members, who are demanding answers.

Soweto Parliament member Ntonto Kente said: “The problem with our people is that they take things seriously only when they face challenges or when they are forced to face the consequences of what they have told to refrain from. Now that we have lost two kids, it's only now that they want those spaza shops closed,” said Kente.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi told Daily Sun the police are investigating two inquest dockets after two kids aged four and six died at clinic in Naledi on Sunday, 1 October 2023.

“The cause of death is unknown at this stage pending postmortem results,” said Nevhuhulwi
