A 55-YEAR-OLD man was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Butterworth Regional Court on Wednesday, 2 August.

According to Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, the suspect had sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl at Doti in Mangati Area outside Dutywa on 2 March 2019.

“The suspect is known to the victim and used to call her to his homestead whenever he needed help. On that day, he asked her for help but then closed the door and sexually assaulted her,” Mawisa said.
