FORMER National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula was granted R50 000 bail on Thursday, April 4, following a number of corruption charges, including claims of accepting millions of rand in bribery.

Social media went crazy after what looked like a snake was spotted roaming around the streets on her way to hand herself to the Pretoria Magistrates Court, and social media users had many questions about the snake.

Spiritualist Dr Gabriel Rodriguez claims that because snakes are frequently connected to danger, poison, and death, including the natural skin-shedding cycle, many African societies view them as an unlucky symbol and, in this case, Nqakula's shamed acts, which are still being resolved through her legal proceedings.

"Snake symbolises temptation or danger, which is often portrayed by how snakes can swindle their way around things and places that are not ordinary easily by conventional techniques without being seen. When someone refers to you as a 'snake', it's generally used in a negative way to imply that you are devious, untrustworthy, or sneaky," he said.

Rodriguez said the phrase "snake" is frequently connected with someone who is deceptive or dishonest in their acts or behaviour, outlining the critical understanding of the context in which the terms and circumstances occur.

Furthermore, he associated the snake with a backstabber who pretends to be your friend while plotting against you, suggesting that Nqakula's allegation implies that she ambushed the country below the belt and struck where everyone least expected it.

Mmalenyalo Lubiso of Winterveld in Tshwane, whose gogo is a healer, said that not all snakes are wicked and that people without spiritual intelligence and wisdom will be unable to distinguish between evil and good snakes.

She said that the snake that was seen was a dark, which is frequently connected with the presence of ancestors, implying that Nqakula's journey is guided by her ancestors as it appeared while she was on her way to court, which is why she was not detained.

"Remember, the law says innocent until proven guilty; all that will be proven in court is that the snake was a good omen that represented luck and fortune," she said.
