THE trial of the gobela from Alexandra in Joburg has been postponed to 29 November.
The gobela (40), who is dubbed the "Monster of Alex", appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Thursday, 14 September.
He is facing a number of charges, including rape.
The suspect's lawyer, Advocate Zimisele Masuku, told the court that his client was sick and he is to undergo an operation on 22 September.
The gobela showed the court the sores on his neck.
He is accused of allegedly raping, assaulting and ordering amathwasa to sleep with each other.
The youngest of the victims was 12 years old at the time of the incident.
It's believed that the old man’s heinous crimes date back to 2020 until 2022, but his alleged reign of terror was brought to a halt when the community caught him.
Angry traditional healers said the gobela has tarnished their reputation.
Sphiwe Nyathi from Abalaphi Bezizwe Traditional Healers said they want justice for the victims.

He said: “The gobela has dragged our profession through the mud. Traditional healers should treat their clients and amathwasa with respect, but we are angry to hear young children were abused.
“They suffered physically and emotionally. We heard some of these children who were allegedly raped are now acting strange, some are even doing drugs. The so-called gobela has caused pain to these children and their families.”
Another traditional healer, Dabulamazi Zwide from the Traditional Organisation Healers, said justice must prevail and the gobela should rot in jail.
“He did all the evil things inside idumba. This showed that he didn’t respect his ancestors. We don’t need such gobelas in our society. We will be supporting the families of the victims and we hope he will be sentenced to life imprisonment,” she said.
