FORMER Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi is not taking the bail refusal lying down.

This morning the South Gauteng High Court will hear the bail appeal application of Agrizzi after he was denied bail in the Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Palm Ridge two weeks ago. This after the magistrate was convinced that he’s a potential flight risk.

However, Agrizzi only spent one night in prison as he’s medical condition worsened.

He has been in hospital since 15 October. He was initially taken to a local public hospital before he was transferred to a private facility.

According to his lawyer, Daniel Witz, there were not enough ICU beds at the public hospital.

The investigating directorate had on 14 October contended that Agrizzi lied in his previous bail affidavit of 6 February last year, where he told the court that he and his wife owned movable assets valued at about R2,6 million and immovable property valued at approximately R14 million. The true position is that as of 6 February last year, the family-owned movable assets (excluding household furniture, jewellery and art) of R35,6 million and not R2,65 million.
