FORMER public protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane was sworn in as an EFF Member of Parliament (MP) on Friday, 20 October.
Mkhwebane was sworn in alongside another EFF newbie, Virgil Gericke.
EFF national chairwoman Veronica Mente said Mkwebane replaced Thembi Msane, who was recently sworn in as MMC of Energy in Ekhurhuleni, while Gericke takes over the place of Piaba Madokwe, who recently resigned.
The new members were sworn in by the Deputy Speaker Lechesa Tsenoli, who also handed them a copy of the National Assembly's rulebook and a copy of the Constitution.
Mkhwebane said she is ready to hit the ground running and expects to bring valuable contribution to the red berets.
Speaking after she was sworn in, Mkhwebane said the important thing is to serve and she's ready to do so at any committee that her party places her.
"I'm going to make sure I serve, and the lives of our people are not going to be the same. I've always said the seven cardinal pillars of the EFF speak to me directly; expropriation of land, nationalisation of mines and banks, as well as empowering and creating capacity within government," she said.

Asked about any possible hostility from other parties as she was recently removed from her previous post, Mkhwebane said she wasn't scared.
"I'm ready for them. I mean, remember we're taking the matter to court. That process was the worst ever, so I'm here to make sure even my biggest enemy will not go through what I've gone through," she said.
Mkhwebane said she is comfortable to sit on any committee because of her vast experience, which includes immigration, human rights and diplomacy.
