AS child protection week begins, ActionSA started its reading with "ActionSA" on Saturday, 27 May in Nellmapius Mamelodi, Tshwane.
They said the programme aims to improve literacy in underprivileged early childhood development centres (ECDs).
The event was attended by party leader Herman Mashaba as well as parents and their children.

Children were taught to read, given life skills and parents were encouraged to teach their kids to read.
The programme was launched in 2022 and has since expanded to other areas such as Ekurhuleni.
Founding member of Reading with ActionSA, Kholofelo Morodi, said the goal is for every child to be able to read by the age of 10.
Another founding member of the programme, Councillor Flora Monama, said she was exposed to books at a young age, which motivated her to help children have the same experience.
"Books open up a whole new world. Every child should have the opportunity and access to books, because a reading nation is ultimately a winning nation," she said.Mashaba encouraged parents to take responsibility for their children's education.
"We need to plan for our children and the best plan parents can make is to educate their kids. Let's promote reading for young children and that will ensure they have a good future," he said.
Mashaba said that not only reading is vital for children, but also bringing prayer to schools is needed.
