THE North West African National Congress (ANC) provincial chairperson and now an acting Premier, Nono Maloyi, appointed in June by Premier Bushy Maape, had started reshuffling the provincial cabinet.

On Wednesday, 12 July, Maloyi introduced Lazarus  "Lazzy" Mokgosi as the new MEC for Social Developments to replace MEC Boitumelo Moiloa.

"I also wish to take this opportunity to thank Honorable Moiloa for her contribution during her tenure as MEC. I congratulate the new MEC and wish him all of the best as he assumes his new position," Maloyi said.

MEC Mokgosi was sworn in by Judge Tebogo Djaje at the North West High Court.

Meanwhile, the ANC chief whip in the provincial Legislature, Paul Sebegoe, congratulated the newly sworn-in MEC Mokgosi on his appointment to the portfolio.

"We wish MEC Mokgosi well in the new area of responsibility, confident that he will stabilise the department and ensure that it focuses on its mandate to accelerate service delivery for the benefit of the most vulnerable within our communities," Sebegoe said.

Sebegoe further said that Mokgosi has played an important role in fostering the unity of the ANC caucus in the provincial legislature and ensuring the implementation of the resolutions of the ANC Caucus Lekgotla.

"His hands-on approach and commitment to serve gives us confidence that he will deal decisively with the challenges facing the department and steer it towards reclaiming its service delivery track record," Sebegoe said.

He said that Mokgosi brings to the department invaluable experience, skill and expertise that he has gained throughout over 35 years in the public service, leadership in the trade union as well as the ANC.
