AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo has distanced himself from a group calling themselves community leaders in Marhambeni villages.
The king’s spokesman Prince Langalibalele Mthunzi Ngonyama said the group has been illegally evicting people and claiming to have been sent by the king.
“There are some people who have characterised themselves as community leaders who demand monies from vulnerable, old and disabled people for a site. They forcibly evict them when they can’t cede to their demands.”
He said they are claiming to be acting at the king’s instructions or best interests.
“The king is asking everyone affected to report such brutal acts to the headman by the name of Njemla who is working under Chief No-ithali of Mpeko Village,” said Prince Ngonyama.
