AN employee at Sibanye-Stillwater in Westonaria, Gauteng, employee allegedly stabbed his colleague to death thereafter took a selfie next to the dead body with his stomach tore open and intestines left exposed.
These graphic visuals have since made rounds on social media on Friday, 10 November after the the man was was caught on camera stabbing his colleague to death.
The horrific video footage that Daily Sun has seen and is in possession of showed the man lifting his arm and stabbing his victim.
Several images that followed after that footage showed the man taking a selfie next to the body.
Sibanye-Stillwater spokesman James Wellsted confirmed the incident involving its employees to Daily Sun stating that the incident happened at one of their operations in Kloof.
Details surrounding the murder are still unclear however, Wellsted said investigations have been launched and the perpetrator has been taken in by the police
"We are not certain of all the exactly details [of the murder], and it is obviously subject to investigations. The perpetrator is currently held by the South African Police Service and they will be the ones continuing with these investigations and we will support them," he said.
Wellsted said once investigations are concluded, they would have a better understanding of what happened.
When Daily Sun asked about the position the two held within the company alongside the identity of the deceased, Wellsted said they were not at liberty to reveal any personal details.
Gauteng police spokeswoman Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the suspect allegedly attacked and fatally stabbed the victim.
"Both the suspect and the victim are said to have worked for the same mining company in Westonaria.
"The police have opened a murder case for further investigations and the arrested suspect is expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrates Court on Monday, 13 November," Nevhuhulwi said.
