THE father of a pupil who allegedly shot a school principal will appear at the Germiston Magistrates Court in Ekurhuleni on Friday, 23 February.
The father is facing a charge of negligence in the handling of a firearm.
His son, a grade 6 pupil (13) from Primrose Primary School in Germiston, was charged with attempted murder, while the father was charged with negligence of a firearm.
This after his son took his gun to use in the shooting of the 51-year-old principal of the school on Friday, 16 February.

A group of pupils told Daily Sun on Thursday, 15 February, that the suspect was suspended a day before for gambling in the schoolyard, and the following day, he brought his dad's gun to school and shot the principal.
Further details revealed by Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane said the boy also had a WhatsApp group wherein he gave out details of his plan to shoot two more teachers.
His first target was the principal, whom he had allegedly planned to shoot in the head.
On Monday, 19 February, Chiloane visited the school and addressed the traumatised pupils.
He said what happened on Friday, 16 February, was abnormal and pupils must not fear coming to school.
"What that child did has never happened in our schools before, where a pupil shoots a teacher. His future is compromised, as he's now going to jail. And it's not nice there," he said.
He urged pupils to respect their teachers and told them that security would be beefed up to ensure their safety.
