THE South Gauteng High Court sentenced Elhadji Kebo (33) to a 23-year prison term recently for the murder of his girlfriend, Sibongile Zenzile (29).

Captain Jethro Mtshali said the accused stabbed Zenzile several times following an argument on 25 April 2019, cut off her head, and hid it in a fridge.

“Police were called to the scene the following day. Neighbours had suspicions as they’d not seen the victim,” said Mtshali.

“Police broke the door down and found the victim’s headless body covered with a blanket.”

Police fetched the suspect from his place of business and questioned him.

“He confessed to having killed Zenzile and later showed police where he’d hidden her head,” said Mtshali.

In another case recently, a 27-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for murder.

Sergeant Connie Moalusi of Daveyton Police Station said three drunk people were involved in a fight after a night out at a shebeen in Siyahlala squatter camp, Daveyton,

“A fight started and Gideon Mabelane was stabbed to death,” said Moalusi.

Three suspects were arrested for murder.

Moalusi said after several appearances in the Brakpan Magistrates Court, two of the suspects implicated Mxolisi Mcambi (27) and said it was he who stabbed Mabelane.

The three accused appeared in the Brakpan Magistrates Court.

Two of them were acquitted and Mcambi was found guilty of murder and handed a 10-year sentence.

He’ll serve his sentence at Modderbee Prison in Benoni.
