THIRTEEN people have been killed in a horrific crash involving a truck and a taxi on the N1 near Verkeerdevlei Toll Plaza, towards Winburg in the Free State.
The crash happened in the early hours of Monday, 12 December.

Spokeswoman for the Department of Police, Roads and Transport Hillary Mophethe said some of the victims were trapped in the taxi.
“The body recovery has now been completed. The number of fatalities on the scene stands at 13. It’s seven men, including the taxi driver, four children and two women,” said Mophethe.
Emergency Medical Services spokesman Sipho Towa said according to their assessment, the truck drove into the taxi.
Towa said five people, including three kids, were taken to Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein with critical injuries.
