AS matric pupils across the country are keeping their fingers crossed, Simlindele Khumalo can’t wait to see his results.
This is after he received a call from the minister of education's office inviting him to the national result announcement.
The call left the 19-year-old from Ondini High School in Ulundi, northern KZN with goosebumps as he doesn’t know why he was called by the minister's office.
“But I believe that the effort that I put in will eventually pay off because I worked very hard for the good results. In everything that I did I let God take control,” he said.
Simlindele was doing mathematics, physical science, life science, accounting, life orientation, IsiZulu and English.
“It's hard to guess which subject I did outstanding work in because I put equal effort in all my subjects because all I want is success,” he said.

Simlindele said before they started their exams, his teachers asked him to read a verse and speak to a few pupils to encourage them on how to carry themselves during exam period.
Upon hearing the news, Ulundi Mayor Wilson Ntshangase, along with municipality management visited Simlindele to bid him farewell as he will be putting Ulundi on the map on a National level.
Ntshangase said: “We are very proud of all the matriculants who keep on putting us on the map. We thank them for working hard. As the municipality, we have programmes that aim to assist matriculants who want to register at tertiary level and R10 000 per school that give us 100% pass. This is to thank them and encourage them to continue with good work.”
Municipal manager Sandile Khomo said they are planning to assist 48 matric pupils who will pass their matric with registration fees.
“We will also award our top 10 with R5 000 each which will come handy when they are going to tertiary,” said Khomo.
