There is nothing you should be afraid of because you are putting both your health first.
You should be proud of yourself and so should your partner for being cautious. Just let her know you prefer knowing each other’s status, so you can take all the necessary preventative and protective measures.
Your suggestion comes from a good place and there is no reason for her to be scared.
