New amapiano kid on the block Bontle Smith said she’s ready to make kasi people dance.
She’ll perform during the Street Food Market at Mehlareng Stadium in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, on Monday.
The event features artists such as Samthing Soweto, Black Motion, Shimza and Malumz on Decks.
Bontle told SunBuzz: “Markets are about fun, family, good music and good food.
“That’s what we’ll give people. Most importantly, there’ll be crowd engagement. People are going to dance and it will be fun.”
Organiser Lebo Masasanya said he started the market in 2016 after he visited one in Braamfontein.
“I liked the idea of markets and how entrepreneurs get opportunities to grow their businesses and how people come together. So when I went to Tembisa, I wanted to do the same thing I saw in Braamfontein.
“So I planned and executed it.
“We hosted the first market in 2016. We used to host it monthly until last year. We decided to host it once this year and make it a big thing.”
Lebo said the main reason for the event was to boost entrepreneurs.
“We called businesses from all over Gauteng to come through to the market so they can sell their goods.
“There will be everything from food, art and crafts.”
Before the main event, there would be an outreach programme for senior citizens.
“We’ve invited organisations, which elderly people need the most, such as the departments of social development and health, as well as the police and Sassa to speak to the elders and help them with everything they need,” said Lebo.
General access tickets cost R100 at Computicket and VIP is R250, while tickets at the gate range from R150 to R350.
