Tips for creating self confidence

Confidence is not something we are born with, it’s something that we learn to express and feel throughout our lives.  Claire Bowen from deodorant brand Shower to Shower says that today more than ever, Beyonce’s words, “the most alluring thing a woman can have is confidence,” ring true.

But how do we build our confidence and furthermore, help others to build theirs? She says that by incorporating a few elements into our lives and starting off slowly, we can build up our confidence and face the world head on.

Also linked to confidence is the concept of self-care, which Kelsey Patel, a Los Angeles-based wellness consultant and author says is a critical part of the solution to coping with the challenges that life presents us.

Bowen has the following self-care tips to work on and improve confidence:

  • An increase in serotonin is a well-known benefit of exercise and when we are happier we have more self-confidence and feel better about any challenges we may be facing.
  • Never to be overrated are the benefits of a good night’s sleep. Make a concerted effort to turn in and enjoy seven to eight hours of high-quality sleep and reap the emotional and physical rewards.
  • Choose a scent that can see you through the entire day and creates positive emotions and a confident stride in your step.  Including Shower to Shower deodorants into your morning routine will help to keep you confident and fresh while choosing a different scent for each mood and moment.
  • Take the time to write your thoughts down – good and bad. If they’re bottled up in your mind they’re likely draining your positive energy. Try journaling, making lists or just writing everything down and then tearing it up, whatever you need to feel better.
  • Food is closely linked to how we feel. If you’re eating right, you’re probably feeling far better than if you’ve indulged in treats all day. Eating a balanced diet keeps blood sugar levels in a healthy range and contributes to a healthier, stronger body – all of which aid in making you feel confident.
  • It is okay to not be okay!  Life has us on a constant roller coaster, multi-tasking, coping with everything we need to do, trying to achieve our very best and being happy while doing it all.  This is just not feasible!  Sometimes we are not going to feel like doing it all, putting on a brave face or we may just feel sad, and this is okay.
  • Set social media boundaries, there is ample proof that shows we need to be disconnecting.  Limit your screen time, unfollow those individuals who are not good for your mental health and if the comments don’t make you feel good, don’t read them.
  • Be kind to yourself, we are definitely our harshest critics and if we would not say it to a friend, why do we think it is okay to say negative things to ourselves.
