WHILE many people struggle with drug addiction, author Zoleka Mandela managed to escape it.
She celebrated her 12th year of sobriety on Thursday, 11 August.
She took to Instagram, where she posted a video and photo from the celebration, named sobriety birthday dinner.
“I’m finally home after such a beautiful, celebratory dinner in honour of quite a huge milestone. Today marks my 12th year of being clean and sober, free from drugs and alcohol,” she wrote.

In 2016, she was named among 100 influential and inspirational women by BBC. And according to an article, Zoleka suffered sexual abuse, and used alcohol and drugs to numb the pain.
She previously shared that she started drinking when she was nine years old, and then started using drugs at 13.
But two months after her daughter Zenani died following a car crash in 2010, she went to rehab to find help. And 12 years later, the mother of six is celebrating being sober.
