Oyama is nominated for a African Entertainment Awards USA Award.

SINGERS Zahara and Nathi Mankayi’s former manager, Oyama Dyosiba, is flourishing even without the stars besides him.

He’s been nominated in the African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA) for Best Fashion Award alongside some of Africa’s biggest stars such as Yvonne Nelson, Timini Egbuson, Toke Makinwa and Zari Hassan.

Oyama spoke to Daily Sun about the nomination, saying he was honoured.

“It’s a great honour to be nominated for this, especially coming all the way from the USA. It just shows that whatever I put out there is recognised by people outside of South Africa. I mean I’ve already received many fashion awards here at home and now to be recognised by the world it means a great deal to me,” he said.

Oyama said he is enjoying seeing his brand growing even without the stars whose brands he helped build.

“Over the years, I’ve worked with a lot of big stars. I own a management agency and I’ve been running it for 12 years. Building brands has been close to my heart, but now seeing my own brand constantly growing and people recognising my work means a lot to me,” he said.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect this nomination. I was shocked, especially for this category because since Covid-19 hit, I have not been active on social media doing any content creation. But the people I’m nominated with have been putting in the work. This means the world is still watching me and I am grateful,” he said.

Oyama asked that people support him and vote for him to win.

“I would like to ask the people of South Africa to support me and rally behind me. I hope to bring this award home. We don’t want it to go to Nigeria, Malawi, or Egypt. We want it here in South Africa. So, may people vote for me on the website,” he said.
