Mzansi, the long-awaited Comedy Central Roast of Khanyi Mbau is finally here.
The show is set to be released on Monday, 8 August on Showmax and Comedy Central, and people will finally see everything that went down.
The roast was filmed last month at The Teatro in Montecasino, Joburg. The panellists for the roast were Celeste Ntuli, SelBeyonce Mkhize, Tbo Touch, YoungstaCPT, Devi Sankaree Govender, Mpho Popps, Sello Maake ka Ncube, Nadia Nakai, John Vlismas and Sol Phenduka.
Ukhozi FM drive-time show cost, Selby “Selbeyonce” Mkhize spoke to SunBuzz about her experience at the roast.
“It was a beautiful experience. A lot of people come to the roast scared, of course it is very brutal, so I prepared myself earlier. I started from the onset when I got the call. I had to tell myself it’s all love and games, nothing personal. It was a beautiful space to be around, especially because we hadn’t been in such spaces in such a long time due to Covid-19,” she said.

She said her focus was on the other panellists.
“My slot went okay. My focus wasn’t really on Khanyi, there’s really so much you can say about her.
“I just feel like I went easy on the guys because I expected that they would come at me hard.
“My focus was on the others and I had to see what jabs I could throw at them.
“But it was hard because the panellist are big people, people of high calibre, so it was a bit nerve-wracking,” said Selbeyonce.
“The jabs that came at me, I took them okay because I came mentally prepared. I didn’t get shocked at the things that were said. What helped was seeing each other before show, we got to chat and love each other a bit.”
Selbeyonce said award-winning investigative journalist, Devi Sankaree, was the funniest of the panellists.
“People will enjoy Devi the most, she was so funny. Celeste, John and Mpho Popps were also funny. However, the whole roast from beginning to end, everybody brought their A-game,” she said.
