GLOBAL R&B star John Legend has given Afro-house singer Mthandazo Gatya the nod.
This after the 32-year-old Senzeni hitmaker recorded a video on TikTok singing alongside John.
In the video, which has been circulating on social media, John was singing a song titled Nervous from his new album, Legend, and Mthandazo added a Zulu touch to it.
John liked the video and responded to it on Twitter with fire emojis.
Mthandazo is still in disbelief that the All Of Me hitmaker saw and liked his video.
“For someone who’s such a huge fan of his work and just him as a person, I’m happy and I still cannot believe that he saw the video and acknowledged it. It proves that dreams come true and I realise that not even the sky is the limit,” he said.
He said he recorded the song because he could tell it needed an African touch.

“I jumped on the song because I connected to it, but another thing was that I’m a fan of John’s music. And I’m also a huge fan of African music, so when I heard that song, something inside me could hear the African rhythm in it,” said Mthandazo.
Social media users have been retweeting the video and tagging John so he could see it and potentially work with Mthandazo.
Mthandazo thanked people for doing that for him.

“I am so happy that people love it and I’m grateful to them for sharing it. Part of me feels like people connected to it, just like I did,” he said.
Mthandazo was not only recognised by John, but Grammy-winning DJ and producer, Black Coffee, who said he wanted to work with him.
“He commented on a tweet and said he wants to work with me after someone suggested that we work together. My team is following up with both Black Coffee and John’s team, working to see if we can cook some music,” he said.
