AFTER MaNgcobo, played by Dawn Thandeka King, left Uzalo, the show was left without a matriarch.
But the gap will now be filled by Mama Sgebengu, played by former Isibaya star, Thembi Nyandeni.
A new family, the Magwazas, will be introduced when season eight starts on Friday, 4 March.
According to insiders on set, the new family, headed by Thembi’s character, will shake things up in the community of KwaMashu.
An insider told Daily Sun: “She will fool everyone into thinking she is a good person but she is actually manipulative and powerful.”
Thembi will start appearing in May along with Omuhle Gela, playing her daughter, Nomaswazi.

Another source said the new character will have her own team of thugs, led by her right-hand man, Simon Nsimbi, who will be played by Ronald Mkhwanazi.
“Uzalo is making big changes. Even at the police station, there will be new management. The police station will be commanded by a woman,” said the source.
“There will be new guys always getting themselves into trouble with the law.”
The new characters will start being introduced throughout March.
Executive producer Pepsi Pokane said the show was welcoming actors with impressive talent.
“The production has several new faces joining the show and it’s a great pleasure to work with these impressive talents,” he said.
