LESEGO Modutle works hard to spoil herself and her family.
The TV presenter and sign language interpreter from Kimberley, Northern Cape, recently posted photos on Twitter showing how she earns her money working at major events and how she spends it. She said the reason she made the post was to show that as a single mother, she works hard so that she and her son can have the soft life.
“My tweet depicted exactly that, me doing one of the various jobs I have, which is me interpreting for the president, and me enjoying the fruits of my labour with my son Kopano,” she said.
Lesego was a presenter on the SABC2 show Hectic Nine-9 before becoming an interpreter for the president. She was also a presenter for Life Begins After Coffee, which aired on SABC2 and SABC3 and focused on including people living with disabilities in society.

“The world sees the people that I stand next to when interpreting as the prominent people, and of course they are, but they are not my focal point,” she said.
“My focus is on the deaf community. They are prominent people in my eyes because it is for them that I am interpreting and I need to make sure that I remain professional and do them justice.”
Lesego is a disability advocacy specialist at the University of Cape Town, where her role is to train students and staff on how to create a disability-inclusive environment.
She said as a little girl, her dream was becoming an actress. “I would love to star in a local series ... One day, I will get that call.”
