DANCERS turned musicians Molebogeng Sekgapo (22) and Tshego Mabunda (25) are enjoying their newfound fame.

The duo has started touring around Gauteng and they are happy because they're being recognised.

They started out as dancers more than five years ago and have recently started trending on social media. The duo is quickly becoming one of the most popular barcadi dancers in Tshwane.

Molebogeng spoke to Daily Sun about their journey.

“It's fun for us because we get to get to travel to new and different places. We are getting paid. We even have fans, there are people who support us, and that's what makes this journey so much fun. Plus, we are so good that sometimes we even trend on social media. We are really having the time of our lives,” Molebogeng said.

The duo said they met on Facebook seven years ago and have since been dancing together.

“We met through social media. I once saw a video of Tshego that went viral on Facebook. I sent her a friend request, which she accepted, and that's how we started chatting. We got to know each other through Barcadi music and dance. She saw that I also like to dance and sing. Eventually we met and started dancing together,” Molebogeng said.

The duo has now ventured into music.

“We’re a brand now, we're signed to a company, and we do music, not just dance. The company that signed us convinced us to start recording and not just focus on dance. Before, we had never imagined being in the studio, but because they saw potential in us, we decided to do it. To our surprise, we enjoyed it and we're good. We’ve already recorded a lot of songs and we’re still working on more. We'll also be releasing something soon," she said.

The aspiring singers said they hope to work with some of the country’s big artists and learn from them.

“We’d love to work with Moonchild and Makhadzi. And we are open to working with any people who are already in the industry and are doing well,” she said.
