FILMMAKER Xolani Sithole is heartbroken that his film, Phila Endaweni Yami, was allegedly stolen.
Xolani claimed that Trust, also known as Beatmonger, who edited the film, stole it.
The writer and producer said he asked Beatmonger to edit his movie earlier this year, but had still not received it after months.
“I met Beatmonger through a mutual friend, who is also his boss. I saw a music video he edited and liked his work. I asked him to edit for me and paid him R4 000 for the work,” said Xolani.
He said working with Beatmonger wasn’t easy.

“He went months without doing the work. He’d only start working when I went to studio to check on him. It took him seven months to finish editing it. He even lost some of our scenes and we had to record again,” said Xolani.
He said he got the movie back in September, but had to take it back to Beatmonger.
“The movie was fine, but the sound was bad so I took it back. He asked me to leave it and told me to fetch it later. He didn’t call me back and when I followed up, he said he was still busy.
“After that, I couldn’t find him, he’d always make excuses for not being around.”
Xolani said he tried to call him for weeks and only got hold of him two weeks ago.
“Beatmonger said he was in Zimbabwe and was crossing the border coming here. He continued to say he wanted to speak to me as he had found an offer that would benefit the both of us.
“We met and he gave me the external drive. When I got home to check it, there was only one scene,” he said.
“I tried to call him, but his phone was off. His phone is still not going through. I asked for his girlfriend’s number and her phone isn’t going through either.”
Beatmonger, who refused to give his surname, said he didn’t steal the movie.
“There’s no empty hard drive. Xolani was just angry that he couldn’t get hold of me.
“I’m not avoiding him. There’s a problem with my sim card. He must call me. This can be easily solved,” said Beatmonger.
