THE vibrant airwaves of Phalaphala FM have fallen silent as the station grapples with the untimely death of their esteemed sports presenter, Ramsey Rampfumedzi.
Ramsey, originally from Roodepoort in Gauteng, died at the age of 41 after a short illness on Sunday, 7 January at about 4.30pm.
A familiar and beloved voice, he succumbed to a brief illness on Sunday at about 4pm, leaving the Phalaphala FM community and listeners in shock.
Speaking to Daily Sun, his uncle Balanganani Rampfumedzi said they were still trying to come to terms with his death.
He said Ramsey was once admitted to the hospital after complications from sugar diabetes.
"But now it seems like it was another attack which started on Friday, 5 January. It’s very painful because this is somebody we had enjoyed our time with during the festive season.

“Everything was fine and as a family, we were happy as he was around," he said.
His uncle mentioned that he left for work in Polokwane on 2 January, only to get a report that he had died five days later.
"He was a restful man, and he was down to earth. We are also asking ourselves as to where such a disease came from as no one has it in our family," he said.
Ramsey's presence on the airwaves endeared him to countless sport enthusiasts and loyal radio followers.
His passion for sport broadcasting brought a unique flair to Phalaphala FM, making him a cherished member of the station's family.
As the news of Ramsey's death spread like wildfire through the community, heartfelt condolences poured in from listeners and colleagues alike.
