MZANSI mourns the death of a young footballer who died after a tragic incident.
The death of Kaizer Chiefs player Luke Fleurs has shocked many soccer fans.
The 24-year-old player was killed in a botched hijacking on Wednesday night, 3 April. The incident happened at a petrol station in Florida, west of Joburg.
Former Chiefs player Reneilwe "Yeye" Letsholonyane (41) told Daily Sun he was shocked when he heard the sad news about the footballer.
The Kaizer Chiefs Football Association has also released a statement on his death.
"It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce that Kaizer Chiefs player, Luke Fleurs tragically lost his life last night during a hijacking incident in Johannesburg. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time," they said.
The club further said the police are investigating the matter and will release further details in due course.

Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa said he was deeply saddened by the death of the young footballer.
"I'm saddened by the passing of Kaizer Chiefs defender and former junior international Luke Fleurs. I'm saddened that, yet another life has been cut short due to violent crime," he said.
Kodwa said he wished his family and all those close to him all the best during this difficult time.
His former club, SuperSport United, expressed deep sorrow.
United Democratic Movement (UDM) president Bantu Holomisa sent his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Luke.
"As every South African knows, I'm a loyal Kaizer Chiefs fan and was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and tragic passing of Luke Fleurs, a rising Chiefs star. His final death leaves a void not only in the Amakhosi family, but also in the South African football community at large," he said.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) also sent its condolences.
"We send our deepest condolences to the Fleurs family and hope that the soul of Luke rest in peace. Rest in peace, Luke Fleurs," it said.
The former SuperSport defender joined Chiefs in October, penning a two-year deal with an option to renew at the end of the contract.
