THE Woman King looks set to break records worldwide and top charts.

The trailer already has fans looking forward to seeing the new film, that will be released in September.

The Woman King, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, follows the history of black nations among African countries and the rest of the world.

It was inspired by true events that happened during slavery in The Kingdom of Dahomey – one of the greatest states of Africa, when black people had to fight for their land and livestock in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The story follows Nanisca, played by Viola Davis, and Nawi, played by Thuso Mbedu.

Local personalities featured in the film include Siv Ngesi, Thando Dlomo, Zozibini Tunzi and Makgotso “M” Monyemorathoe.

Fans across the world shared their enthusiasm regarding the upcoming film, with Puleng sharing that she loved how Thuso and Viola nailed their characters.

Then Thato Jessica said: “BW stand up. One of our own is on The Woman King.”
