GOSPEL legend Deborah Fraser is now a doctor.
She was honoured by the International Bible School with a doctorate in sacred music.
The graduation ceremony was held in Tzaneen, Limpopo on Saturday.
Deborah, who’s been in music since 1985 and released her debut album Abanye Bayombona in 2000 that sold more than a million copies, said being honoured with a doctorate meant her work in music was highly recognised.
“I’m humbled. It really shows they went through my journey in music and realised I deserve the honour.”

She said she has been getting messages from her fans.
“The response is amazing. My fans are congratulating me and it feels good. You know, because of the work I have done, there are music fans who thought I deserve to be honoured with a doctorate long before I was officially honoured. Some had already called me doctor. Those fans believed I deserved it.”
She revealed she sent 20 kids to college in Durban to study more about business.
“I’m not that kind of a person who brags about helping people. I love to help in private. There are lot of things I’ve done. I have helped children with their university studies and I have graduates I don’t even know. But I don’t brag about it,” she said.
