ACTRESS and TV personality Salamina Mosese wants children to learn how to read.
The 39-year-old recently released a children’s book, titled Disaster at Gogo’s Spaza. It will be launched on Saturday, 16 July, at Exclusive Books in Melrose Arch, Joburg.
She said she wanted young people to learn how to express themselves with her book.
Salamina from Zebediela, Limpopo, told Daily Sun that it has always been her dream to write a book that people could relate to.
“I loved Disaster at Gogo’s Spaza because it’s a story about family and community. It’s humorous, endearing and fun to read.”
She said it was great for kids to experience being innocent and enjoy playing games meant for them.
But Salamina admitted that writing the book was challenging.

“Writing something you end up releasing is even harder, but I am grateful for the end result. Plus, it is important to remember that the book is for kids when writing children’s books. That requires you to access a different part of yourself,” she said.
She shared that she has always loved writing.
“I’ve been running a writers blog for many years. It’s called a Page In My Book, because I always knew I’d write a book one day,” she said, adding that she just did not think it would be a children’s book.
“That desire was inspired by having a child and fully exploring the world of books for children. It has been a dream I’ve been putting off for a long time.”
Salamina said she was hoping that the book would reach kids from all corners of the country, thereby encouraging them to love reading.
The actress added that she was producing a feature film, and also planning to release one they filmed last year.
“We’re also going into production for our next film offering.”
