MONDLI Makhoba has ventured into fashion.
The actor, who plays Nkosana Zulu on The Wife, has launched a clothing label called Bhut’omdala, which means older brother.
His business, which mainly sells fedora hats, is based at Mall of Africa in Joburg.
Talking to Daily Sun, he said: “The hats are ideal for amalobolo negotiations, polo events, the Durban July and fashion shows.
“This brand is about leadership, respect, wisdom, loyalty, love and admiration. My primary target market is upper middle-class black men between the ages of 25 and 65.”
Mondli said he never planned to get into fashion and it happened by chance.
On Friday, 27 May, the store will have its official launch. Mondli said at the moment, the brand was his primary focus. “I have other projects such Imizwa Nemicabango, a poetry anthology that was published last year. I am currently working on another poetry anthology, which will be released later this year. I’m also writing a book, which I hope to finish before the end of the year, and I’m the founder and organiser of a men’s conference,” he said.
