THE gospel industry is about to be hit by the big and exciting news.
The first-ever Gospel Music Video Awards have just been introduced and they will focus on the music videos from Mzansi and Africa as a whole.
The mastermind behind the awards, Thabang Mnisi, told SunBuzz: “This idea was inspired by the absence of recognition for videography and cinematography.
“We have 24-hour channels that play music videos and artists have live DVDs, but all the awards in Mzansi focus on audio.
“We’ve never had such awards before.
“We think music videos are so important because that’s how fans put a name or face to a song,” he said.
He said they’re open for older music videos and videos from outside the country.

“There will be 15 categories that will only focus on music videos and because these are our first awards, we are open for music videos from any year.
“We also want gospel artists to improve on their music and not just capture mountains and nature in their videos.
l they need to do more than that. “We hope this will help them put more effort on their music videos,” he said. like musicians in circular music do. They go all out, let’s not have this mindset of poverty and this thing of saying gospel musicians are poor,” he said.
Thabang said the awards will be held in December.
