TEENAGERS are on a mission to tackle gender-based violence (GBV) with their music.
Westside Entertainers music group just wants to send a strong message to abusers.
The group, made up of Neo Kokome (16), Tshiamo Kokome (14) and Neo Mhlomi (14) from the West Rand in Gauteng, is tired of seeing stories about abuse every day. And for this reason, they released a song, titled Stop GBV, to help bring back hope to victims.

The idea of the song, that was released last month, came from their manager Thuso Makau.
Neo [Kokome] said it was meant to make perpetrators stop abusing children and their mothers as GBV was a daily occurrence.
The youngsters said it pained them to see kids their age living in the streets because they feared being beaten up.
“We see a lot of people talking about being beaten up when we watch TV. Some of them are our age, and that must come to an end,” Tshiamo said.
He said that they wanted to live in a crime-free country.

Thuso said his wish was to see many producers making music that would bring hope to the masses.
He further said as they were still growing, they needed help with spreading awareness and getting donations in the form of studio recording equipment.
