IT'S that time of the year again when the nominees for the South African Radio Awards are announced. 

The nominees were announced on Thursday, 5 October and radio personalities and radio stations took to social media to celebrate their nominations. 

Former Metro FM presenter Mantsoe Pout bagged two nominations for the shows, Weekend Breakfast Sounds Good and Let’s Talk About It on Metro FM. 

She wrote: “Both the shows I did at Metro FM 2022-2023 got nominated at the radio awards. I’m most proud of us for creating something that dope on radio @BohlokwaMatlosa kea leboha, ngoaneso.”

Hot 102.7 FM received 12 nominations including Weekend Radio Show, Breakfast Show Presenter, News And Actuality Show, while the late Mark Parlgrim's show is nominated for Daytime Show.

"We're humbled and so grateful to receive these nominations. Thank you to our audience who are an essential part of this Hot 1027 family. We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for your support as you share this journey with us,” said Lloyd Madurai, managing director of Hot 102.7FM. 

The nominees for Afternoon Drive Presenter under Commercial Radio are Thando Thabethe for 947, Tbo Touch for Metro FM, Roger Good for 5FM, Khanya "Kyeezi" Siyengo for Good Hope FM, and Carl Wastie for KFM 94.5. 

For Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) the nominees are Sakima Kamwendo for SAFM, Tshata NHibernate for Ukhozi FM, Selbeyonce Mkhize for Ukhozi FM and Luks Gidane for Umhlobo Wenene FM. 

Anele Mdoda bagged a nomination for Breakfast Show Presenter alongside Lester Kiewit for 567 CapeTalk, Aden Thomas for Heart FM, Tony Murrell for Hot 102.7FM and Darren Simpson for KFM 94.5. 

The Daytime Show nominees for commercial radio are Afternoons with Zweli on 947, 702's The Midday Report, Midday Connexion on Gagasi FM, Mornings with Suga on HeartFM, The Mark Pilgrim Show on Hot 102.7FM and The Best In The City on Kaya 959. 

Best Internet Radio Show nominees are Africa @Play for Channel Africa, on The Move for Channel Africa, Moneywebnow for Moneyweb Radio, Rhythm Talk for Sauma HD Radio, as well as That 80s Show for That 80s Show SA 

More nominees for Station of the Year, MyStation Most Votes and Most Loyal Listeners, Hall of Fame, Bright Star and Station Manager’s Choice will be announced on Wednesday, 11 October. 

The awards ceremony will take place on 2 December 2023 in Parktown, Joburg.
