IN most cases, wives do everything in their power to prevent husbands from taking second wives, while others simply refuse and shed tears.
However, for former Vibe presenter-turned-pastor and traditional healer Mandlakhe Zubane, the situation was different. He received permission from his first wife to marry a second wife without much trouble.
In the latest episode of the polygamous show Mnakwethu, which aired on Mzansi Magic on Tuesday, 23 April, polygamist Musa Mseleku assisted Mandlakhe to get consent from his first wife of nine years, Ntokozo Zubane to take wife number two.
Initially, Ntokozo was hesitant as the potential second wife, Nosipho Mngadi came across as rude. However, she quickly changed her mind.
Ntokozo explained that she agreed to her husband's request because she feared that if she objected, her husband and his girlfriend would continue their relationship behind her back, anyway.
"I can't stop them from loving each other. In fact, trying to break them up only makes their love grow stronger.
"I've been married to Zubane since 2014, and he's been good to me. I have no complaints, she said.

Mandlakhe, who previously worked as a presenter for Vibe FM in KwaMashu, north of Durban, shared that his desire to practice polygamy comes from his position in the family and fulfilling his ancestors' wishes.
“I was told nothing will go better in my life if I don’t do what my ancestors want because they want their houses with wives before I have mine.
"To extend my home I had to take a second wife and I asked my first wife for permission. At first, she refused, until I asked Musa Mseleku to help me. I love my first wife and don’t have any problems with her. I want a second wife because of my ancestors," he said.
Nosipho emphasised the importance of respect in polygamous relationships.
"The first wife is the matriarch in polygamy. If a husband wants to take a second wife, they must be strong. As second wives, we should respect them, provided they respect us. Initially, I was unsure about polygamy but fell in love and agreed."
Musa was happy that the first wife has allowed Mandlakhe to take a second wife.
