DANCER Musa Motha impressed American viewers after making his debut on America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League on Monday, 22 January.

The 27-year-old from Sebokeng, Vaal received a standing ovation after his heartfelt performance. Even though he wasn’t live, he still impressed people from kilometres away.

The competition is currently held in the USA, but Musa couldn’t attend because according to Simon Cowell, who is a judge and founder of America's Got Talent, his documents weren’t sorted in time for him to travel. He performed in the United Kingdom.

AGT: Fantasy League sees the judges choosing their favourite acts from previous seasons and Musa was Simon's first pick. The picks will compete against each other.

Speaking about being chosen by Simon, Musa said he couldn’t believe it.

“When I found out that I was Simon’s first pick, I was just like asking myself, ‘Is this real?’ Him believing in me, I know I need to do my best. I wouldn’t want to let him down,” he said.

Musa made Mzansi proud when he went to Britain’s Got Talent in June 2023 and received a golden buzzer which put him through to the semi-finals.

At the time, the judges had finished the golden buzzers, but the audience forced them to give him a golden buzzer regardless.

They were forced to give him the buzzer.

During his interview on AGT, he revealed that his life after Britain’s Got Talent changed.

“After my performance, it was crazy. It was like excitement on another level. The judges pressed the golden buzzer, all of them at the same time.

“I made it to the finals, but I didn’t make it through. I felt a little disappointed. But since Britain’s Got Talent, my life has changed. Seeing myself on the news every day in South Africa, I felt honoured,” the dancer said.

Musa was diagnosed with cancer when he was eight years old, and his leg had to be amputated.

His mum, Ntokozo Motale spoke to Daily Sun in June 2023 and said she tried to stop him from dancing.

“When I saw him dance for the first time with his crutches, I tried to stop him, fearing that he would hurt himself. But today, I’m proud for not letting anything stop him from achieving his goals,” she said.
