RADIO host Sizwe Dhlomo has broken his silence following his former colleague Unathi Nkayi’s sudden departure from Kaya 959.
According to the statement issued by the station, a certain conduct rendered its relationship with Unathi intolerable. It, however, didn’t reveal what caused the relationship to go sour.
A source told Daily Sun earlier in the week that Unathi had an altercation with a fellow DJ from another show and that video footage as well as witnesses suggested she might have been in the wrong.
The DJ in question is Sizwe, who has since stated in a series of tweets that he was shocked by Unathi’s claims.
“Well, my team was also in the studio when this happened. So we had witnesses but who knows how it would have played out?

Sizwe explained that the station did not know that digital back-up were kept.
“No, that’s not how a gated digital desk works. Where do you broadcast because I see you say you’re a radio and TV person in your bio? Basically she didn’t know that Zetta keeps a digital back-up of all signals, neither did HR or programming but I did. So I told them to pull it. Well, we didn’t get called into a meeting together for example. HR matters are run separately. I didn’t interact with her at all after that so I’m not privy to the details of what transpired on her side once I had lodged my complaint,” he wrote.
Sizwe also mentioned that @Citypress explained his side of the story correctly.
“Regarding the article in the City Press this morning, I’d just like to state that in the context of GBV in our country and even on the backdrop of Kaya’s history as an organisation, a false abuse claim is not only malicious to those it’s levelled against but… it also delegitimises the claims of thousands of victims whose cases fall apart because of lack of evidence. Such an egregious lie is a highly irresponsible thing to do!”
He also revealed in a tweet that he was left surprised by Unathi’s conduct since she is the one who suggested he joins Kaya.
“We did get along, nami that’s why I was surprised. Do you know that she’s the reason I’m at Kaya? She is literally the one who DMd me and asked if she could give Greg my number. So every interaction you heard was sincere,” he wrote in a tweet.
