The victim's family said Moja Love presenter Xolani Khumalo should face more charges.

SIZOKUTHOLA presenter Xolani Khumalo (33) should face more charges.

This was a plea from the family of slain drug dealer Robert Varrie to the cops.

The family revealed this through their private investigator known as AB.

On Friday, 22 September, the family addressed the media at Reiger Park in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni.

The investigator said the family believes there should be more charges against Xolani.

He could face charges of damage to property and theft.

“Two cellphones, Open view decoder, a wristwatch, and R3 000 were stolen when Xolani and Sizokuthola crew went to the room where the deceased was renting.

“The furniture was damaged, and the family believed the cops were protecting Xolani,” AB said.

He said the family wants the investigating officer removed from the case and the docket handed over to the provincial investigating team.

AB said the family is baffled that only Xolani was arrested, yet his crew and amaphanyaza (Gauteng Wardens) were also at the scene when Robert was allegedly killed.

“It’s a fact that the deceased was selling drugs. The family doesn’t want to hide that.

“Robert was found with two plastic of CAT drugs inside a remote control, and he was supposed to be taken to the police station and charged with the possession," he said.

However, the family said Robert was allegedly assaulted and later taken to the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital.

“To make matters worse, when Robert was taken away from the scene, he wore his girlfriend’s clothes.

“Two men were seen carrying Robert to the car, and they later drove to the hospital without telling the family where they were taking him,” AB said.

The investigator said all the people who were at the scene should face the music.

“The family wants justice because they feel the case is not properly investigated. It might lead to Xolani being acquitted.

“They say cops failed them as Xolani was charged two months after the incident happened,” the investigator added.

Robert (49), a father of eight children, was allegedly assaulted on 19 July at Phadima Section in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni.

Xolani, known for raiding drug-infested areas on Moja Love's much-loved show Sizokuthola, appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 19 September.

He was charged with the murder of a suspected drug dealer.

He handed himself over at the Katlehong North Police Station on Tuesday, where he was charged with the murder of Robert Varrie, who died during the recording of the Sizokuthola TV programme in July.

Xolani was granted a bail of R20 000, and the case was postponed to 19 October.

Gauteng police spokeswoman Brigadier Brenda Muridili said these allegations were viewed in a serious light.

Muridili said other people were wearing balaclavas, only Xolani was identified.

"The investigating team has not ruled out the possibility of more charges being added.

"We appeal to those who allege to have evidence of corruption against the investigating officer to come forward and report the matter to our anti-corruption unit on 071 675 7494, or alternatively call CrimeStop on 08600 10111. Callers may remain anonymous," Muridili said.
