SIYA Kolisi's documentary Rise: The Siya Kolisi Story won the Audience Award at the Tribeca International Film Festival.
The festival took place in New York and the proud South African documentary won the audience award in the documentary category.
The documentary follows the life of the rugby player from his birth growing up in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, to his rise as the first black captain of the Springboks.
Siya said winning the award was very important to him.
"We are more than just products of our environment and have the potential to change our respective narratives. Our win at Tribeca is very important to me and my team, and we are excited to see how far this film goes around the world and maybe make it to the Academy," he said.
