Sive Matiwane’s future looks bright!

ACTOR Sive Matiwane is excited about the future as he stars in a new film called Everything a Boy Wants, which aired on SABC2 on 1 October.

The 32-year-old actor, director and writer from the Eastern Cape is a thespian of note who lives and breathes art.

His entire life has been in the arts, and he says he will forever be in it.

“Lucky enough I fell in love with acting at a very young age, so I knew who I wanted to be while growing up in the Eastern Cape. I started doing theatre at the age of seven but there were no resources in terms of television. I had to move to Joburg after matric to pursue acting.”

Sive has worked in numerous productions that include Isidingo, Isibaya, Ingoma, Judge Khambule, Isithembiso, Mzali Wam season two, Isibopho and Father’s Matter.

He said one of the biggest highlights of his career was when he started on television with Soul City.

Another highlight came in 2015 when he was doing industrial theatre, touring the whole of South Africa.

He spoke about challenges in the industry, which includes struggling to get funds at times as a producer.

And “as an actor. auditioning again and again and not getting roles, especially when they want models with a high number of followers on social media instead of looking for someone with talent”.-

Speaking about his production company, Nu Era Films, he said: “It aims to reach out to young up-and-coming actors to help them refine their acting skills and pave their way to the top.”

He said one of his aspirations is to go back to the Eastern Cape to create more production companies and make things easier for up-and-coming artists from the village.
