SIO's big New York dream!

accreditation

Singer and songwriter Sio has took over New York’s Time Square billboards.

The musician, who dropped her new album Torn Tapestries on 19 August, is already on three billboards in the city that never sleeps.

Sio, whose real name is Siobhan King, spoke to SunBuzz about her album and being on international billboards.

“I still cannot believe that a girl from Ennerdale is on billboards in the USA. I don’t even understand how I can be on three billboards and I haven’t even set foot there. It’s really a big deal for me and I am honoured.

“I am currently the Spotify Equal ambassador and that’s how the opportunity came by,” she said.

The singer also shared about the album.

“My producer Dave Marian and I recorded this album in just two days in 2020. He had a lot of beats and I had a lot of songs I hadn’t recorded so that’s why it didn’t take us long,” said Sio.

“It is about a heartbreak that I experienced, but it doesn’t have that mood. It’s not your typical songs about trying to move on or crying over your lover. I didn’t have the room to cry because Dave and I had such a good time recording. Dave and I both co-wrote it in every aspect. So, it is also my first production credit. It’s my first time rapping as well. He pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I did the same to him. We challenged each other and that’s why we’re just so proud of it,” she said.

Sio thanked her fans for supporting her.

“Shout out to the people who have become a beacon of life,” she said.
