Mnqobi Yazo says he can’t wait to watch himself on TV.

ENTERTAINMENT fans know him as a talented singer, but little do they know he has another talent.

Mnqobi Yazo is also a TV actor and is featured on e.TV telenovela, Durban Gen.

He plays a patient with a chronic illness who has the same name as him, who has been admitted to Durban General Hospital. He is also going through challenges in his relationship since his partner is not supporting him.

Although Mnqobi’s acted in theatre shows such as There Lays Ubuntu and Coal and Ashes, as well as Ukhozi FM radio drama Buchitheka Bugayiwe, not all music fans knew his acting side.

The singer said he was amazed by the level of talent he showed on Durban Gen.

“But if you’re an artist, anything can happen. I guess this talent has always been there but I didn’t know about it,” said Mnqobi, whose real name is Mnqobi Ndunakazi.

He said the acting opportunity has got him thinking about his career as an artist.

“This is big for me. Durban Gen is huge. It’s one of Mzansi’s respected shows. Being featured on it is an honour. Rubbing shoulders with people I’ve been watching on TV is big. It’s one of my highlights as an artist.

“So, I’m no longer afraid to try new things. I’m now thinking of building my acting career into something bigger. Who knows, maybe I will be given an opportunity on other big shows in future.”

The Ntombazane hitmaker was also featured in the movie titled Umanga.
