MUSICIAN Innocent Bayanda "TyraQeed" Mzimela said when he was a teen, he avoided a lot of things that would have landed him in trouble.
Instead, he used his talent to avoid being part of groups that were associated with bad things.
TyraQeed said he is now an established brand, and it's all thanks to his brother's love and support. The 27-year-old said he is looking forward to a better future in the music scene.
The musician, who was born and raised at Enkwali in KZN, told Daily Sun that the Afro-beat genre kept him indoors and safe from the streets.
"I was inspired by my older brother because I grew up in a family that loved music," TyraQeed said.
He said he started making music in 2008 because he had a passion for it.
"All I wanted was to sing and dance. Music has been part of me and a safe space for me," he said.

TyraQeed has worked with some of the big names in the music industry.
"I've worked with Nasty, DJ Bongz, Mr Brown, and DJ Lag just to name a few people. It was amazing working with these musical giants, and I've gained a lot of knowledge," he said.
He said his latest single, Bambelela featuring the Qwabe twins, is set to be released at the end of May, adding that the album is coming out at the end of 2023. He said the single is about having fun and being responsible at the same time.
"My new song is a super dance track where I featured DJ Lag. It's a beautiful song," he said.
"I did a few songs with DJ Bongz titled Uthando, Mal'Yakhe and Ntofontofo. And one of the songs I also produced is titled Lasandra and it was nominated for a Grammy award last year," he said.
He said his fans can expect more music from him.
"I'd like to work with Chris Brown because he inspires me. He has a unique sound, and being multi-talented shows us that there's nothing impossible," he said.
