POPULAR maskandi socialite and musician Quality Biyela survived an attack at the notorious KwaMashu Hostel in Durban on Wednesday evening, 2 November.

Quality, who recently launched a wine business called Quality Biyela, was driving in his BMW when an unknown man opened fire on him. He sustained no injuries but his car was left with bullet holes, back and front.

He thanked God and his ancestors for protecting him.

Quality told Daily Sun he moved out of the hostel in 2019 but visits his friends whenever he is in Durban.

“I’m based in Joburg but am in Durban for a maskandi event, so I decided to visit a friend of mine at the hostel. At around 7.30pm I was blocked by three cars. I was still wondering what was happening when I heard gunshots,” he said.

“A man came from a Toyota Fortuner and jumped on my car’s bonnet and shot at me. There’s a bullet hole on the windscreen directed straight at me but it missed.”

He believes the hitmen were amateurs.

Quality said he has no enemies at the hostel and no rivals as a maskandi socialite.

He said he will not open a case.

“I’ll fix my car and trust God to fight for me.”
