EVEN when his career was crumbling, Shisaboy never gave up.
Shisaboy, whose real name is Israel Dhludhlu (35), has been through very dark times with some of his businesses having to close down and his income from music going down.
The businessman, musician and songwriter from Pienaar, Mpumalanga told Daily Sun he wouldn’t wish what had happened to him on his worst enemy. But he was able to pull through with the support of his family and friends, and the power of God.
He said he had to shut down his salon due to Covid-19 as customers stopped coming.
“However, I then started my kota shop called Kota Kings. It’s doing so well compared to the salon,” he said.
When asked how the entertainment industry had been treating him, he said it’s been hard.
“Eish, I don’t want to lie to you. It’s been very hard with ups and downs, especially when you’re independent and have to do everything from your own pocket.

“But because music is my life, I’m not giving up. I’m a focused and hardworking artist.”
Shisaboy said he was grateful for the support he has been getting from his fans.
“The challenges of the Covid-19 restrictions cost me a lot. Things were hard for me,” he said.
Things have started looking up as Shisaboy has been nominated for the Best Kwaito Album Award at the South African Music Awards for Kwaito Pallet. He said he released the album in January.
“The nomination really means a lot to me as it’s now 23 years I’ve been in the game,” he said.
