The prestigious awards took place at The Galleria in Sandton, north of Joburg.
"Ooh, it feels so good. I told everyone that I'll win and not only win but make history. Newcomer is a very important category in the Savanna Comics Choice Awards," she said.
Wazi said that every comedian who won had to fight, and they were very funny and dope.
Manuela Dias de Deus, the producer of the awards, told Daily Sun that she is glad it is still possible to celebrate talent in Mzansi.
"The awards were not founded by us, but we were part of the team for six years. In 2020, we took over as the custodians and have spent two years putting together this year’s campaign and show. It was a very rewarding experience to reconnect with old comedy friends and forge strong bonds with newcomers in the industry. Seeing the progression of comedy careers from the early days where some comedians are today is the most wonderful thing about it,” she said.
Manuela said he learnt that people really cared for these awards.
The event was attended by a number of Mzansi stars such as Mbali Nkosi, Sandile Mahlango, Rob Forbes, Nina Hastie, and Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp.
