THE South African Music Awards (Samas) have announced the top 10 nominees for Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year for this year’s awards.
The categories initially had 20 nominees each and Mzansi had to vote for the top 10.
Kabza De Small bagged three nominations on Record of the Year for Asibe Happy, Abalele and Young Stunna’s Adiwele, which he’s featured on.
On the list with Kabza is Nomfundo Mo’s Phakade Lam, Musa Keys’ Vula Mlomo, Nasty C’s Black and White, Umsebenzi Wethu by Busta 929, Matthew Mole’s I’m With You, DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU’s Banyana and Zakes Bantwini’s Osama.
The Music Video of the Year top 10 nominees are Makhadzi’s Ghanama, Black Diamond’s Summer Yo Muthi, Izolo by DJ Maphorisa, Liyoshona by Kwiish SA, Kamo Mphela’s Nkulunkulu, De Mthuda’s Jola, Indlovu by DJ Zinhle, Mmapula by Busta 929, Phakade Lam by Nomfundo Mo and Yini Sdakwa by ThackzinDJ.

Announcing the news on social media, the Samas wrote: “We’re almost there! Your votes have come through and here are your top 10 Record of the Year nominees as voted for by you!”
Last week, they also announced the Lifetime Achievement recipients and the International Achievement Award recipient.
Legendary musicians Joe Nina, McCoy Mrubata and Jimmy Dludlu will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Black Coffee will take the International Achievement Award.
The awards will be held at Sun City, North West on 28 August.
